Bean (aka Bruno at the shelter)

Bean’s pet parents sent this terrific update early in July:

Hello,
We wanted to send a happy update about our Bean. If you remember, we adopted Bean (then Bruno) almost a year ago knowing he had some bad habits. We understood that dogs in the shelter are under a lot of stress and often lose their manners. Bean was very selective with the dogs he could be in contact with and could become aggressive if we weren’t watching him. But I knew that those big brown eyes had more than enough love to share with the world. We adopted Bean with the intention of making him a therapy dog for folks going through sad times. Pit bulls are wonderful cuddle bugs who are very people oriented. This makes their breed a wonderful choice for a therapy dog for hospitals. Even though Bean was insecure he had the makings for amazing cuddleness so we brought him home.
In less then a year, Bean has completed a Reactive dog class (a.k.a keeping cool under pressure class) and now, the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen class. Bean can now play with everyone he meets and is only one class away from helping comfort people in hard times.
But don’t worry, Bean isn’t all seriousness and business. Oh no! This boys still loves his ball and rope and his sassiness is tough to match. But he’s proving that just because you fall on hard times, doesn’t mean you’re down for the count! 🙂
Thank you for giving us our boy. I’ll end with my favorite quote “dogs will often l fill a hole in your heart you didn’t know you had.” – anonymous
