Charlotte and Friday are our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pets of the Week for the week of April 6, 2025

Charlotte and her sister, Friday, came to the shelter after their owner realized that cats weren’t the right kind of pets for their family. These two girls both have bunny-soft fur and are understandably confused at the change of environment. They are looking for a loving forever home with people who will make them feel safe and loved. They will need a little time to decompress, but they have already shown that they love laps and they know how to make great biscuits. If you have room for these two love bugs, stop by Riverdog Astoria to meet them where they are staying in the big catio upstairs (1389 Duane St, 10-6 Mon – Fri, 10-4 Sun)

Meet and greets are by appointment, so if you’d like to meet these two, call the shelter at 503-861-7387 or stop by the lobby to set up a time. The shelter is open 9:30 to 4:00 Tuesday through Saturday, closed 12:30 to 1:30 for lunch.

You can also fill out an application here: https://www.clatsopcounty.gov/media/16441 or by going to the shelter’s Adopting a Pet page at https://www.clatsopcounty.gov/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet for more information on adoption requirements and then filling out the form at the bottom of the page. Be sure to date it next to the signature line (applications are reviewed in the order they are received) and put the name of the animal you are interested in at the top. You can then save the application to your computer and email it to: ac@ClatsopCounty.gov or print it and deliver it directly to the shelter.

Kavoot is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of March 30, 2025

Adopted

Are you looking for a large shadow to follow you throughout the day? This gentle giant just wants to love you. He has been in the shelter’s playgroup and does well with other dogs. Kavoot walks well on a leash, but he will need a strong handler due to his size. He would do well in a home with other dogs or kids. If you have room aka a very large room in your heart, call to schedule an appointment to meet Kavoot!

Muffin is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, and CLASSIC HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of March 24, 2025

Don’t let her name fool you, Muffin is no wall flower. At 15+, this mature black beauty has been around the block a few times.
Muffin scored big and gets to spend her time in a nice foster home. She’s quite a character and has shown how happy she can be in a quiet home environment.
Her foster person reports that the biggest change since Muffin moved out of the shelter is that she is a lover. She likes to sit in a lap and will settle down quickly to be petted. If you get distracted and stop petting her, she puts her front paws on your chest and rubs her head against you until you pet her. Once she’s satisfied, she leans against your shoulder for a while to be petted more. These days, she’s settled into a routine. Right after her meals, she likes to come over and talk to her foster dad until he picks her up. Muffin is OK with a lap, but what she really wants is to be cradled like a baby and cuddled. Foster dad supports her with one arm, holding her against his chest, and she’ll just settle right down and start purring. Muffin will stay for about 10-15 minutes, then she’ll go off and lie down in her bed. She needs at least 2-3 cuddles per day or she gets cranky and will tell her foster dad all about it.
In summary, Muffin is an older gal who needed a little time to adjust to her surroundings. She’s a very sweet cat once she settles in. She’s not a kitten any more, but if someone is looking for a low key friend who is fine with just hanging out, she’ll be a great companion. If you think you could give Muffin her forever home, please call the shelter and make an appointment to meet this special girl.

Teddy is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of March 16, 2025

Teddy has been living with his foster family for over a month and has truly begun to settle into home life. Although he loves going for long walks and playing fetch in the backyard, he’s also content napping next to you on the couch. Since being in his foster home, Teddy’s fosters have only heard him bark once, he’s very quiet! Teddy enjoys car rides and he has been working on his dog reactivity.

His foster family has seen improvements even in the short month he has been with them. Teddy’s foster mom’s favorite thing about Teddy is how happy he is to see his people when they come home (his whole body moves side to side and he gives so many happy kisses). Teddy’s foster dad loves how polite Teddy is and how much he wants to be a good boy. Adopt this happy pup and you’ll have a goofy loyal friend for life.
