Adopted!

ADOPTED!

We all adore this girl and are hoping to find her a home very soon. She loves the sun (not much of that lately!) and snuggle time “including a big dose of whole body rubs and scratches” according to a volunteer who has spent lots of time with her at the shelter. Lola is always up for walks – she does well on the leash – and play time with all the volunteers. After that she’s ready to sit and watch the world go by. She’ll make a great couch buddy; she just needs a couch and a companion.

Lola is an American Staffordshire terrier mix and is about six and a half years old. She will need a home with a fully fenced yard and no cats, and she’ll need to meet any other dogs in the household since she can be picky. Lola has a few easily managed allergies, including reactions to grass and chicken. But give her salmon, fish or peanut butter treats and she will sit and shake and   maybe even learn new tricks; what a good girl.

Watch her in action.

Pet meet and greets are by appointment only, so if you’d like to meet Lola, submit an application in advance by going to the shelter’s Adopting a Pet page at https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application. Be sure to date it next to the signature line (applications are reviewed in the order they are received) and put the name of the animal you are interested in at the top. You can then save the application to your computer and email it to ac@co.clatsop.or.us. A shelter staff member will review it and call you to set up an appointment. Due to Covid restrictions, only two people are allowed in the shelter at one time and each visitor is asked several health-related questions before being allowed in.

SUCCESS STORY: LILLY

Lilly (aka Truly at the shelter) was adopted late last fall. Her mom sent this update last week:

“Lilly is full of personality and she continues to be a wonderful source of love and entertainment. We come home to “gifts” that she places on the kitchen rug…her toy rat and a bag of ribbons from my sewing room. She runs up and down the stairs with her toys and loves to investigate our every activity. Sleeps with us every night 😺.” Lucky girl!

Dominick is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of December 20, 2020

Diane tells us, “Our tuxedo boy Dominic has been waiting for a family to adopt him for a very long time now.  As written previously, he doesn’t care that much for other cats, but does tolerate them to an extent.  However, dogs are another story.  It appears that he prefers to be friends with dogs rather than cats.  This is not the case with most of our adult cats, especially those who have lived as strays.   Dominic is our go-to cat for testing how a dog will behave around cats which he enjoys so much, even rubbing up against the dog.  We hope someone whose dog needs a pal will consider Dominic.”

Please consider Dominic today!!! Call the shelter at 503-861-7387 if you’d like to make an appointment to meet him. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:00.  https://www.petfinder.com/cat/dominic-48920170/or/warrenton/clatsop-county-animal-control-services-or53/ or http://clatsopcounty.animalshelternet.com/adoption_animal_details.cfm?AnimalUID=240060

SUCCESS STORY: LAYLA

Layla’s mom writes, “We have had Layla for a little over a year now and she is doing wonderful. She has come a long way from growing her hair back, training and ultimately meeting her best friend, my cat named Kudi. The couch is where she prefers to be but she loves playing fetch, going for car rides and running alongside us while we are on our longboards. She has experienced multiple trips and loves the sand, snow and dirt/mud. She does amazing at the vet and had her first professional teeth cleaning earlier this year. She is so sweet and loving. All our friends, family and her other dog friends love her.”

Alaska is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of December 13, 2020

Alaska is looking for a home where she can share her affection and love of life (although her affectionate nature doesn’t extend to cats). This young German shepherd will happily spend hours playing ball or walking before cuddling up for a nap.

Alaska needs ongoing medication and a special diet; call the shelter at 503-861-7387 for an appointment or for more information about her special needs. The shelter is open 11:00 to 4:00 Tuesday through Saturday. You can also fill out an application at the shelter’s Adopting a Pet page: https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application.

Watch her in action here.
