SUCCESS STORY: ASH

Ash was adopted in December 2020. Here’s an update:

“She is doing fantastic!  We love her soooo much and she is a part of our family now.

She knows the schedule of dad and waits for him at the window when it’s time for him to come home from work.  She was a very anxious puppy when we got her and had a need to always have your hand in her mouth if you touched her.  I think it was her way of controlling the uncontrollable situation she was in.

However, 3 months later and with patience, stern training, a lot of exercise and a whole heap of love she has settled in nicely and does not do that anymore.  She is a special dog and we feel so lucky to have been able to adopt her and be her forever family and home!

Thanks so much to the shelter for all that they do and to all the volunteers that take a stressful time for an animal and help make it as good as possible. Much love and appreciation for CCAC!”

SUCCESS STORY: LILLY

Lilly (aka Truly at the shelter) was adopted late last fall. Her mom sent this update last week:

“Lilly is full of personality and she continues to be a wonderful source of love and entertainment. We come home to “gifts” that she places on the kitchen rug…her toy rat and a bag of ribbons from my sewing room. She runs up and down the stairs with her toys and loves to investigate our every activity. Sleeps with us every night 😺.” Lucky girl!

SUCCESS STORY: LAYLA

Layla’s mom writes, “We have had Layla for a little over a year now and she is doing wonderful. She has come a long way from growing her hair back, training and ultimately meeting her best friend, my cat named Kudi. The couch is where she prefers to be but she loves playing fetch, going for car rides and running alongside us while we are on our longboards. She has experienced multiple trips and loves the sand, snow and dirt/mud. She does amazing at the vet and had her first professional teeth cleaning earlier this year. She is so sweet and loving. All our friends, family and her other dog friends love her.”

SUCCESS STORY: Sierra and Fisher

These two kittens were adopted in June and have clearly stolen the hearts of their family. Their mom tells us, “We didn’t start the typical way of wanting kittens. Our dog died and Oscar our 15 year old cat was extremely lonely. He would cry when he saw cats outside. I put on cat Youtube videos. He would run over and talk to the cats on TV.  Obviously he wanted friends.

We had a wonderful experience selecting our kittens and even were able to visit them until they were old enough to take home. It had been a long time since we had babies. A lot of joy but work also as they get into everything. Dishwasher, cabinets, washing machine etc.

I even found one taking a nap in our cast iron skillet on the stove. Before you turned anything on you needed to take a kitten inventory. That is the hard part but you do get lots of laughs.

The easy part is all the fun and love.  Exciting to see what they thought of some everyday objects. Stairs, drawers, coffee grinders. At six months they are still fascinated with the ice maker dispenser and come racing out whenever they hear it. I then place a few ice cubes in their water dish. They won’t leave until all the ice has melted.

Sierra and Fisher have been a wonderful addition to our home.  They are best friends with Uncle Oscar.”

Success Story: Agnes

Earlier this month we got a lovely update from Agnes’s mom Sara. She tells us, “It took some time and several visits before I finally found Agnes, but the staff and volunteers I met were kind, and made the process easy for me.  She settled in here in no time and now she is my little tiger; a playful, funny, smarty-pants—and so cute!  It is so, so nice to have a kitty companion again, and I’m especially glad to have her with me during these rough times.  Thank you Clatsop County Animal Shelter/Clatsop Animal Assistance!”

And thank you for adopting, Sara.
